Allday Liquid: The right e-liquid for the whole day
Allday Liquid Guide: What makes a good everyday vapour, which flavours and VG/PG mixtures are suitable and what you should look out for when buying. Tips included.
An all-day e-liquid is one that you can vape throughout the day without the flavour becoming boring or overwhelming. Unlike intensely sweet dessert flavours or strong menthol bombs, a good all-day e-liquid remains balanced, with a flavour subtle enough for continuous vaping and technically suited to standard pod and sub-ohm setups. In this guide, you’ll learn what makes an all-day e-liquid, which flavour profiles, nicotine strengths and VG/PG ratios are suitable – and what you should look out for when buying in Switzerland, so that your everyday vaping really becomes a habit and doesn’t end up in a drawer after two days.
An ‘all-day’ e-liquid is one characterised by a neutral, well-balanced flavour profile, making it pleasant to vape for many hours. The term derives from the English ‘all-day vape’ and describes a function rather than a product category: the e-liquid should not overwhelm the sense of taste or clog the coil unnecessarily quickly.
Typical characteristics of an everyday e-liquid are a moderate level of sweetness, a clear main flavour (such as tobacco, fruit, light menthol or subtle bakery notes) and a formula that does not rely too heavily on sweeteners. Although sweeteners taste intense on the first puff, they lead to coils burning out too quickly and a dull aftertaste.
This distinguishes the all-day vape from two other categories: firstly, ‘premium’ or ‘dessert’ liquids with very intense flavours, which are best enjoyed in sessions, and secondly, beginner’s recipes, which often seem flat. A good all-day vape liquid lies right in between.
Those who vape daily use on average between 3 and 8 ml of e-liquid per day – depending on the device and vaping habits. For these quantities, you need a flavour that doesn’t get on your nerves even after the tenth puff. An all-day e-liquid fulfils three functions: it delivers consistent flavour, it protects the atomiser head (coil) and it keeps your setup flavour-neutral in case you switch to other flavours in between.
Suitable flavour profiles
- Tobacco e-liquids: classic, dry, usually with light nutty notes – ideal for those switching from cigarettes.
- Fruit blends: light fruits such as apple, grape or a berry mix are particularly suitable, as they don’t become too sweet too quickly.
- Menthol & Ice: refreshing and neutralising, works well between meals.
- Light baked goods: vanilla or biscuit in subtle doses – not too creamy.
Suitable devices
Pod systems with 1.0 to 1.2 ohm coils usually work with 50/50 blends and nicotine salt. Sub-ohm vapes below 0.5 ohm require 70/30 short fills with less nicotine. Your all-day e-liquid should suit your device, otherwise the vapour will be either too harsh or too weak.
- Check the VG/PG ratio: 50/50 for MTL pods, 70/30 for sub-ohm. The wrong mix means poor vapour production or leaking tanks.
- Choose the right nicotine strength: 3 to 6 mg/ml for sub-ohm, 10 to 20 mg/ml nicotine salt for pods. Products containing nicotine are intended exclusively for adults aged 18 and over in Switzerland.
- Choose a bottle size to suit your usage: 10 ml e-liquids are handy for testing, whilst 50 or 100 ml short fills are worth it for daily use.
- Check the sweetener content: Highly sweetened e-liquids reduce coil lifespan from the usual 7–14 days to often just 2–4 days.
- Manufacturer quality: Look for clear labelling, a best-before date and child-resistant caps – standard for Swiss and EU manufacturers.
A common mistake: buying a large bottle of a new flavour straight away. It’s better to test a flavour in a 10 ml bottle first and only switch to short fills once you’re sure you still like it after a week.
What distinguishes an all-day liquid from a premium liquid?
Premium e-liquids feature complex, intense flavours and are usually vaped in sessions. An all-day e-liquid is deliberately more subtle so that it doesn’t become overpowering even after several hours and doesn’t dull the sense of taste.
What nicotine strength is suitable for all-day vaping?
That depends on the device. For pod systems with nicotine salt, 10 to 20 mg/ml is standard; for sub-ohm vapes, 3 to 6 mg/ml of free-base nicotine is sufficient. Those switching over should base their choice on their previous cigarette consumption.
Can I combine several all-day e-liquids?
Yes, many vapers have two or three favourites that they switch between. A tobacco e-liquid for the morning, a fruit blend for during the day and a menthol for in between reliably prevent flavour fatigue.
How long does an all-day e-liquid last?
Unopened, most e-liquids have a shelf life of around two years. Once opened, manufacturers usually recommend using them within six months – after that, the flavour and nicotine content may diminish.
A good all-day e-liquid is no secret, but a question of balance: subtle flavour, the right nicotine strength and the correct VG/PG ratio for your device. If you bear these three points in mind, you’ll quickly find the one or two recipes that truly become your daily companions. In our selection of e-liquids, you’ll find both 10ml samples for testing and short fills for a larger supply – take your time to compare and find your personal everyday flavour.
